About Us
It all started When…
The University of Lethbridge Finance Club has been a long-standing part of the Faculty of Management. Like any student-managed club, it has seen great turnover in its leadership and direction. The club has previously been focused on objectives such as connecting the boardroom and classroom or helping students find summer or full-time finance-focused work in firms. For the majority of the 2016/17 school year there was no executive team for Finance Club. After competing in the 2017 Rotman International Trading Competition, the team was approached by faculty members who asked us to reform the Finance Club and begin to write the next chapter of the club’s history.
Our purpose is simple: provide events and platforms for students to engage in Finance discussions and learning. We have a broad focus and wealth of experience on our team, including strong relationships with several of the University of Lethbridge’s finance professors, that will allow us to enhance your education. To do this, we hope to hold a variety of events over the school year, including trading leagues, stock discussion nights, portfolio management challenges, and industry professional information sessions. Engaging in these events will make you stand out among your peers in the competitive business environment. From discussions with past U of L Finance graduates, their number one advice is to do more than just get good grades, those alone are not enough to the job you want. Our events will also look great on a resume and can help in your future interviews.
The University of Lethbridge Finance Club has been buying low and selling high since 2017. After the founding team earned 8th place in the Rotman International Trading Competition in Toronto, more students became interested in what the club had to offer. We aim to educate students about finance and bring together students who are passionate about the field. The club has three main activities that it helps organize;
- University of Lethbridge’s Trading League
- Rotman International Trading Competition
- CFA Institute Research Challenge.
Our Mission
The University of Lethbridge Finance Club offers a forum for students to learn about the finance industry and to prepare one another for desirable career opportunities upon graduation. Students will be able to learn skills in investing, trading, financial modelling, and software programming and will be encouraged to network with their peers, faculty, and community professionals.
Our Goals
As a member of the finance club, our goal is to help you indulge your interests, challenge yourself, and reach your potential.
